Mercedes 300E 1993 3.2

I need to buy a car for my younger son. I test drove a 1993 300E 3.2 Monday. Seemed OK to me but I read mixed reviews. I would probably try to do most of the maintenance work on it myself. It has 180K mi. Any opinions out there?

oooh, hrm. i'd be weary of paying too much on a car that was 13 years old with that many miles. just be careful.

I ended up buying a 1994 Taurus withonly 52000 miles on it for $1400.
Spent about $1000 for tags, PA inspection, new front tires and parts to replace the rear brake systems and have the cat converter patched. Confirmed with carfax that the mileage was true and my mechanic said that the rusted cat converter was evidence that the car spent alot of time parked and not much time driven. My son loves it, He has been using it since the end of September- I bought it the day after his birthday and had it ready to drive 2 weeks after.

that was actually the last car that i had. i wound up putting over 200,000 miles on it. it eventually broke, but i drive cars pretty hard. for starters, i drive nearly 150 miles a day for work and i'm usually late.
